Picture looks to be early 60's; pre-trapeze. Location Annapolis; Frostbite sailing. Skipper and crew unknown. Male and female teams were very common in the 1960's (hard to tell from the photo if this is a mixed crew).
I pulled reader "Doc Haagen-Dazs" from the comments and enjoyed reading where he relates his time in a Classic International 14 over here. Great story.
I thought that was a Thistle. Sandy Douglas didn't copy Uffa, no way!
ReplyDeleteIrony is very hard to communicate on the Internet but I understand this reference completely (why does the Thistle still have the triple diamond rig of the old Uffa 14's, who copied who?)
ReplyDeleteDefinitely first thought was Thistle with the plumb bow. A little too short though. Wasn't Uffa buried under Giants Stadium?
ReplyDeleteI bought Wet & Wild in 1969 in order to court Trophy Wife. (It worked!) She was the same boat as on the banner of this site, except she had a single trapeze for the crew. T.W. and I switched off on the helm and we could never agree on who was best with the tiller. So we bought Lasers to settle it. But the answer is still in dispute today, everyday we go out.
