Aussie 6-Footer as a Classic Singlehander?

Australian 6-Foot skiff.

A couple of years ago it occurred to me that, if you reworked the massive rig downwards, the Aussie Historical 6-Footer skiff, would make a crazy, traditional singlehander. To that end I sketched out a cut-down sail plan which I present here.

As always, use the pop-out icon on the top-right hand to open the drawing in another tab.

  1. If I could find a classic full bodied high freeboard 6 ft clinker tender, I'd love to give it a go, something I too think about from time to time.

  2. Mike,

Might be tough to find a 6 ft. dink. That is definitely on the small side. The advantage of building a 6 ft. (1.83 meters) boat is you can use 8 ft. (2.44 meters) plywood with no scarfing. The big problem would be shoehorning your body in such a short dinghy.
