Music Whenever: Valentines Day 2011

I've been married for awhile. I admit, I am not the most romantic guy on the planet. But, every so often, throughout my married life, the sedate, the status quo gets shaken up so my eyes open and you appreciate all the qualities in the life partner who has chosen you. This is one of those times. Happy Valentine's Jeanie!

Two videos featuring either, falling in love, or crazy in love.

A Russian music video that celebrates that first attraction, that wowee!, that floating on air, what the heck does she see in me moment, where the smiles seem permanently plastered on the face. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to determine who the artist or the song that backs up the video. Any help would be appreciated in the comments......

Music Whenever: Valentines Day 2015

In the ancient history of this blog (2009, 2010), I used to post a couple of love song videos for Valentines Day. It was something that fell by the wayside but, for 2015, at least for this year, I'm bringing the tradition back.

Click here if you want to see my previous Valentines Day posts.

Let's start with the popular Passenger (aka Mike Rosenberg) "Hearts on Fire".

Adam Baldwin with the slow-dance tune "Love You With My Eyes Closed".

ADAM BALDWIN - Love You With My Eyes Closed from Southern Souls on Vimeo.

And a R and B tune; Lee Fields and The Expressions, "You're the Kind of Girl".

Oops! My lovely wife is questioning me about an unexplained charge that just showed up on our credit card bill. Gotta go!

Music for Fridays; Valentines Day

Take all those gazillion songs written about love; passionate love, unrequited love, love gone south, schmaltzy love, eternal love, physical love, love at first sight, etc. etc. ................... Which ones will be worthy of "Music for Fridays"?

So for this Valentines I have chosen two lighthearted songs;

Jason Mraz "I'm Yours", this one an acoustic version he did in Korea with his bongo sidekick Toca Rivera. Another boppy tune that you will find reverberating around your head, the tune emerging in whistles or hums at odd moments.

The second tune, a John Prine tune "In Spite of Ourselves" with Prine acoompanied by Iris Dement. Prine, always quirky, looks at love from our lowest common denominator, the not so nice, even eccentric personality traits that are always hidden on the first dates but, when they emerge, endear lovers even more.

To Jeanie, Happy Valentines..........Rod

Music Whenever: Lord Huron "The Night We Met"

I've usually done a music video for Valentines Day - a day late this time. For the dark side of love, another bittersweet, lost love song; "I had all and then most of you, Some and now none of you"

I am not the only traveler
Who has not repaid his debt
I've been searching for a trail to follow
Again
Take me back to the night we met
And then, then I can tell myself
What the hell I'm supposed to do
And then, then I can tell myself
Not to ride along with you
I had all
And then most of you
Some and now none of you
Oh, Take me back to the night we met
I don't know what I'm supposed to do
Haunted by the ghost of you
Oh, take me back to the night we met
When the night was full of terror
And your eyes were filled with tears
When you had not touched me yet
Oh, take me back to the night we met
I had all
And then most of you
Some and now none of you
Oh, Take me back to the night we met
I don't know what I'm supposed to do
Haunted by the ghost of you
Oh, Take me back to the night we met

Valentines Day 2017: SIYYU "Stop Us"

A Valentine's Day music video is a sometime thing on Earwigoagin. You can't count on it showing up every year. However, here is one for 2017. Of course this Valentine's video post is a couple of days late. "Stop Us" is a boppy tune with self-empowerment lyrics and resonating chorus; the video features soft-core skin, and mirrors. Plenty of views of the sea. What's not to like? (Wait for it, there is some old-fashioned hugging and hand-holding toward the end of the video.)

Music for Fridays; Bright Eyes; "First Day of My Life"

Some of you who read my blog may have deduced that I was down sailing in Florida while my hometown was hit with a very nasty blizzard. Some of you who know me personally also realized that my wife was left to dig herself out by herself. And there was a record amount of snow! Well, she's tough as nails, and did it matter of fact, no complaining, and actually welcomed me back with open arms. Meanwhile what little snow removal I've done has left me with a sore shoulder and wrist.

Happy Valentines Day Jeanie!

Music Whenever: Lone Justice "I Found Love"

Sorry, I missed Valentines Day with this rocking classic on love but better late then never. Featuring the full bodied voice of Maria McKee, this song is from the 1980's.

Valentines Day 2012

I've been a kept man the last couple of months. While I joined the ranks of the unemployed, my wife has been the breadwinner to keep us going. She's been remarkably good about it (not all the time, mind you, but most of the time).

I don't think she realized when it happened or even realizes it today, as it was presented in another context, but I wrote her a Valentine back in 2011.

Luv ya Jeanie. Let's go to the videotape....
