Header Photo: Monotype du Bassin d'Arcachon

The Bursledon Blogger got this right. The previous header photo was of a beach gathering of the traditional lug-rigged dinghies from France's Arcachon Bay. You can read more about the traditional sailboats of the Arcachon Bay over here.

Lovely boats - but then I have a thing about traditional catboat types. Witness the Cornish Cormorant and Solent SCOW in our small fleet.

That and not a sand dune in sight around here (anyone who has visited Arcachon will understand).

Max,

Having never set foot in France you will need to paint me a better picture of Arcachon. It does seem their beaches may be more ground up oyster shells than sand but I may have got that backward.
