I've mentioned before that I've been sailing most of my life but, unfortunately, I've never been the best salesman for sailing. Contrast that with the love and passion for sailing that just leaps out in the videos below.
First, Sue Lane, an English Flying Fifteen sailor from Dovestone......
And a wonderfully crazy coot who thought it was a good idea to teach sailing on a farm pond in the mountains of West Virgina.......

I'm familiar with Soapysails - the guy in WV. he occasionally posts in the Sunfish forums about the regatta that he puts together.
that pond is tiny, but it's great to see him getting that many people interested. as Nick Hayes points out in his book Saving Sailing, mentoring is a huge part of getting people to start, and continue sailing as a pastime. I think SoapySails is off to a fine start!

my2fish - Thanks for the extra information on SoapySails. A while ago, in another house, I had a neighbor. He was into tennis and I was into sailing. Then he picked up a cheap 470 to sail with his son (I had nothing to do with his decision). And then he went whole hog into sailing; joined a big boat crew and even bought himself a small cruiser. It seems that those that come to sailing later in life radiate a passion for sailing that those who have been doing it since their younger years lack.
