Buried deep in the bowels of this blog are several posts I did about sailing with no racing - just kicking back in a pleasant breeze - the zen of daysailing. As winter makes its approach in the Mid-Atlantic it is good for the soul to watch the zen of daysailing, basking in the tropical sun close to the equator; in this case Tenerife, one of the Canary Islands.
More Zen of Daysailing.

Vauriens! They had these at Minorca Sailing in 1981, where and when I learned to sail.
So the Vaurien brought out that innate skill hidden for all these years! And Tillerman then begat Proper Course. Long live the Vaurien! All kidding aside, the Vaurien looks to be a great little sailing dinghy, though I've never seen one in person.
I am the proud owner of a Vaurien. Details here http://reachingbroadly.blogspot.ae/2012/07/my-yacht.html.
A very basic boat, well suited for a tranquil daysail. Although they are still raced, the modern with carbon spars, fancy sails, etc.
