Just for the thrill of it

I've been a small boat sailor for most of my life. When you get as heavily into racing small sailboats as I had in the past, you get somewhat jaded, you forget that thrill of just scooting along in a small boat. This video of an Englishman whooping it up in a Topper scow brings back the joy I felt as an eleven year old sailing the family's El Toro.

(Plus the chap keeps yelling the name of my blog over and over again.........)

Oh those English chaps....! That reminds me of a blistering sail I had on a Topper some 8yrs ago. It was surfing conditions in an enclosed harbour (Rhoscolyn) on Anglesey in the UK, where I sailed my Merlin. So I took out my son's Topper and had the most fun EVER, just beating upwind sufficiently to be able to surf back to the beach and then do it all again. I was in a fit of hysterical laughter and kept going for as long as I could still hike out.....Thanks for sharing the video!

Mike,

Thanks for the story. I have a picture of me in my old Laser just having fun blasting on a reach. One of these days I'll post it.

Are these chaps from Yorkshire. Don't have an ear for the various English accents.
